Listed are the incoming contributions from the Zwickau Fraternity of Students in 1520.
These extracts were compiled by the genealogist Ernst Költzsch in January 1966 in Wilkau-Haßlau. Publishing was permitted courtesy of his son, Prof. Dr. Költzsch. The original and the transcript are in the library Ratsschulbibliothek Zwickau, a copy in the archive of the AMF e. V.
The list contains the persons who have financially supported the local school. Mentioned in the transcript are the names of the persons. There are 747 persons recorded appearing in 747 documents. The typewritten transcript is provided as a PDF file.
In his preliminary remarks the Author Ernst Költzsch indicates the following:
Among the treasures of the library Ratsschulbibliothek Zwickau there is a narrow Folio book, bound in wood, with the title "Regestum pro fraternitate Scholarium".
These handwritten pergaments contain a list of the members of the brotherhood of students, the Schulbrüderschaft, ie. an institution at that school similar to the Kalandbrüderschaften. Members supported the school with legacies, donations, and other contributions. In turn, for them and their deceased requiem mass was read on special religious occasions. The priest Mag. Stephan Roth has noted in this small book all the names for whom mass was said in 1520 on 4 occasions (Thome, Reminiscare, Pentecoste and Michaelmas). For us, this list is an interesting source for the genealogy of Zwickau families, also the names mentioned of students from abroad can be helpful to the researcher. For this copy the original was used but the latin text on the inner cover was omitted. It contained the statute and stated the 3 groups of persons elegible for rogation. But these 3 items are also written in German on Folio 1a and also precede the other quarters. Already in 1891 Dr. Ernst Fabian had published this text in vol. III of the "Mitteilungen des Zwickauer Altertumsvereins". His essay was used for comparison. As this is a rare and not easily accessible source with no index existant I deemed this work necessary.
When using this extract keep in mind, that there is no distinction between letters "B" and "P", "C" and "K", "D" and "T". If a name is mentioned for a page it can appear more than once on that page.
